Law enforcement in full effect

The St. Croix Valley is served by several police departments and the county sheriff’ s department for its public safety needs.
The Washington County Sheriff’ s Office, which dates to 1840, has been led by Sheriff Dan Starry since 1993. The department is composed of divisions that offer extensive services and operate on a $ 40 million annual budget.
The sheriff’ s office serves the 18 cities and townships in the county. They contract with several municipalities to provide additional law enforcement services, and they provide a school resource officer to Oak-Land Middle School. The Sheriff’ s Office also has a volunteer Water Recovery Team ready to assist if emergencies occur on the

Washington County Sheriff’ s Office 15015 62nd St. N., Stillwater 651-430-7600 waterways. The Stillwater Police Department is led by Chief Brian Mueller. In addition to police services and responding to emergency calls, the department supplies a school resource officer to Stillwater Middle School.
The Oak Park Heights Police Department, headed by Steve Hansen as the police chief, provides a resource officer to Stillwater Area High School.
The Bayport Police Department, with Jay Jackson as police chief, is beloved by the community.
With a wide range of public engagement activities throughout the valley, such as Cops and Cones, Shop with a Cop for school supplies and holiday gifts, National Night Out, and safety education events for the little ones, the communities show appreciation and affection for local law enforcement all year long.
