CIVIC BETTERMENT CLUB
The Civic Betterment Club ( CBC ) is the oldest service organization in Princeton , established in 1914 with a mission “ to further the best interest of the community and for the betterment of humanity .” The CBC contributes to the community through American Cancer Society , food shelf , Mille Lacs County Historical Society , Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism , high school senior scholarship awards , Princeton Ambassador program , senior outreach program , the community garden and other projects around Princeton .
The club hosts three annual popular community events : Spring Tea , Fall Wine Tasting and Santaville in December . All club proceeds benefit the Princeton community .
The CBC meets the third Wednesday of the month at 10 a . m . ( social time ) with a meeting start time of 10:30 a . m . Meetings take place at the Princeton Civic Center September through June . Contact the club at 763-234-8710 and like us on Facebook : Civic Betterment Club .
THE GARDENS AT OAK KNOLL
The Gardens at Oak Knoll are a community garden located at the Depot Museum in Princeton and in an area west of Oak Knoll Cemetery . 10 foot by 10 foot allotments in an annual or perennial garden and raised beds are available for rent . Gardeners are responsible for planting , watering , weeding , harvesting and other maintenance . You can inquire about the garden on the group ’ s Facebook page : Princeton community gardens . Registration begins in the spring at the Depot during regular business hours , and at the Oak Knoll garden shed during the season . Contact the Board of Gardeners at 612-986-4360 for more details .
JAYCEES OF PRINCETON
The Princeton Jaycees have been around for many decades . It is a nonprofit organization with the primary purpose of contributing to local communities . During its existence , it has donated countless hours of human resources and significant financial resources to the Princeton area and surrounding communities .
Jaycees stands for Junior Chamber of Commerce and was started nationally in 1920 for the purpose of leadership training and civic work for persons ages 18-40 . The local Princeton
Jaycees chapter was organized in 1963 . A number of past Jaycees members who have met the maximum age for regular membership still supports the club as alumni members .
The Princeton Jaycees have three charitable gaming locations to support the club ’ s charitable giving : Neighbor ’ s on Rum Bar & Grill , Princeton VFW Post 806 and the Moonshine Bar &
Grill . Charitable giving has totaled over $ 870,000 since it first began charitable gaming in
1994 . Over the years the Jaycees have donated to scholarship programs , local food shelves , local senior dining sites , youth sports organizations , youth mentoring programs , city and school projects and events , individual medical and hardship needs and countless other humanitarian purposes . A few of our most significant donations were for the Princeton Library , Mark Park renovations , Rainbow Park basketball courts , Princeton Splash Park and the future Princeton
Pantry building . The Princeton Jaycees also continue to assist other charitable organizations in bettering the local com-
