Throughout my time living in and serving the city, it has become increasingly clear that Plymouth is defined by a strong spirit of innovation.
From leading-edge industries to top-notch amenities, Plymouth consistently offers a fresh approach to enhancing quality of life and offering progressive, modern services and features.
Here at the city, we strive to do our part to offer excellent customer service to our residents, and are pleased to recruit and retain high quality, hard-working staff and dedicated public officials.
As you explore this community, I’ m sure you’ ll discover the ways in which the city works to provide the best infrastructure and amenities that our residents expect for work, play and life.
Here are some of the ways the city’ s departments work for Plymouth:
The Parks and Recreation Department boasts extensive programming, outstanding parks and trails, and award-winning facilities, such as the Plymouth Community Center, Plymouth Ice Center and the Hilde Performance Center.
Plymouth’ s Police and Fire departments make up the Public Safety Department, which provides forward-thinking services to save lives, reduce injuries and maintain safe neighborhoods. The Public Works Department builds and maintains the infrastructure that residents and businesses depend on – including roads, sewer and water.
The Community and Economic Development Department ensures that the city develops with a clear vision and careful planning, buildings are constructed safely and soundly, and businesses have the resources they need to be successful.
The Administrative Services Department offers front-line customer support, administers elections and handles behind-the-scenes functions, such as finance, information technology and public information.
We’ ve never made a habit of resting on our laurels, and Plymouth always seems to find a way to innovate and improve.
That spirit can be seen in places such as med tech companies pushing the limits in their fields; school districts raising the bar in education to set students on the best path; volunteers devoting time and talents to give back; and city workers going the extra mile to serve the community.
