The library: A free resource at the community’ s fingertips

The Hennepin County Library-Plymouth is the ultimate go-to as a community resource. Within the library walls, there are engagement opportunities aplenty and the chance to learn through its vast programming.
Located at 15700 36th Ave. N., the 30,000 square-foot facility serves the Plymouth area with public computers with internet access indoors and outdoors, as well as desk space available for personal laptop use. Visitors will find free wireless access across the building and outdoor Wi-Fi available from 7 a. m. to 10 p. m. daily. No password is needed.
The library was built with environmentally friendly features in an effort to reduce operational costs. Some of those features include a green roof, geothermal heating and cooling, daylight harvesting, energy-efficient glass, light-sensitive light fixtures, durable and recycled fabrics and building materials, a biofiltration area and a stormwater pond. For those paying a longer visit, there’ s a lounge, study and variety of gathering spaces all throughout the library.
The library has spaces for patrons of all ages. The teen area features a bright lounge with retro carpet and furniture as well as roomy computer desks perfect for collaborating on school projects. The children’ s area features an inclusive variety of spaces for families to read together, use computers and explore an interactive early literacy zone.
The adult area is a space for patrons to relax with comfortable seating. There is also a lounge with a display case, and a community information alcove with a photocopier, study tables and free community newspapers. Study rooms are also available on a first-come, first-served basis. Video conference

The Plymouth library houses a large collection of books, DVDs and CDs, Chinese and Russian language materials, four self-checkout stations, an all-hours drive-up book return and a large parking lot. It also provides access to downloadable e-books, audiobooks, videos and more- all free with a Hennepin County Library card.
The Friends of the Plymouth Library are a group of devoted volunteers that support the library with their presence and donations. The friends are the hard workers behind the popular book sales all throughout the year, where attendees can purchase books with cash or e-payments. All proceeds from the sales benefit Plymouth Library, supporting family storytimes, cultural programs for all ages, talks with local authors, and Plymouth READS. Halfway through the year, the library almost 100 % met their goal of raising $ 30,000.
Plymouth Library is part of the Hennepin County Library system, which consists of 41 libraries located in Minneapolis and suburban Hennepin County and is recognized as one of the top library systems in the United States.
Library cards are free and are available at any Hennepin County library. While all items checked out are encouraged to be returned in a timely fashion, the library has instituted a no-fine policy for overdue material. However, it will continue imposing a fine after 41 days, which is when a book goes from being late to being counted as unreturned or lost.
