Community Center brings city together
In 2023, the Plymouth Community Center wrapped up a major renovation and expansion that managed to make the space even better. The conclusion followed years of preparation, community input, planning and construction.
The Plymouth Community Center, 14800 34th Avenue, features an updated facility with gathering places for all members of the community to enjoy recreational activities, educational opportunities, sports and fitness, playtime, arts and music programs, weddings, special events, meetings and more.
The Active Wing first opened in January 2022 with new amenities such as an indoor playground, a year-round walking track, fitness rooms and two gymnasiums. Later, the Event and Education wings opened in July 2022, with a renovated ballroom, theater, conference / meeting rooms, classrooms and more.
One of the center’ s shining glories is the Kids Ultimate Backyard Experience( K. U. B. E.) an accessible indoor playground for children ages 2-12. The space totes an array of ramps, slides, climbing towers, playhouses and other structures for the center’ s youngest visitors.
The K. U. B. E. also features a 28-foot-tall tower with netting and a spiral slide, activity spinners, basket swing, rock climbing wall and several interactive gaming areas.
Passes may be purchased online or in person, with different rates for residents and nonresidents. The daily rate to use the K. U. B. E. is $ 6 for residents and $ 8 for non-residents. Group rates and punch passes are available. The admission fee applies to playground visitors ages 3 and older – supervisory adults do not need to purchase a pass.
One of the free areas of access to visitors is a dedicated yearround indoor amenity for walkers. Guests need not check-in or register. Instead, they can walk to their heart’ s content inside a temperature-controlled environment any time of the year.
During winter months, indoor walking / jogging will also remain available at the Fieldhouse.
Two full-size gyms also showcase offerings for community center visitors. Whether it’ s pickleball, basketball, badminton, volleyball, tumbling or more, options are aplenty. Open gym hours also remain available for specific sports, which may include a fee.
Inside of the Active Wing includes three dedicated fitness rooms, specifically created to host a wide range of health and fitness classes and activities, such as Zumba, dance, cardio, strength workouts, chair yoga and more.
Inside of the Event Wing, there are conference and multipurpose rooms equipped with new integrated technology as well as a renovated ballroom and redesigned Black Box Theater, which were staples from the former Plymouth Creek Center building. Known as the Plymouth Room, the newly renovated ballroom seats up to 300 guests at tables or 400 guests for audience-style seating. This popular wedding and
