You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever. ~ Psalm 30:12-13
Music has always been at the center of my life, thanks to my parents ' understanding and patience, but my journey to the cantorate began in an unexpected way. During my undergraduate years I was struck by a car. While recovering, I began working with Cantor Seth Warner, who helped me discover my true calling— using music to help others express their deepest selves.
After earning my B. A. in Music at Webster University and my Master of Sacred Music from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, I continued my ordination studies at the Academy for Jewish Religion in Yonkers, NY, where I have now completed this phase of my cantorial ordination. and cousins, and my incredible friends from my hometown of St. Louis. My heartfelt thanks go to my mentors— Cantor Seth Warner, Rabbi Steve Moss, and Dr. David MacFarlane, Dr. Jefrey Carter, Dr. Jeffrey Shulman and Dr. Efrat Aharonovitch. I extend my gratitude to the faculty, staff, and students of AJR, as well as the educators from HUC and Webster University who believed in my journey. To the congregants I have had the privilege to serve, especially my Temple Sinai family, thank you for welcoming me into your lives and prayers. And finally, to my D & D families— thank you for keeping me sane!
Throughout my career, I have been blessed to serve a diverse array of communities, including Congregation Shaare Emeth in St. Louis, MO; Beth Yam in Hilton Head, SC; Temple Israel in Ottawa, Canada; Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in New York, NY; and Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains, NJ. Most recently, I have found a home with the congregation at Temple Sinai of Palm Beach County, a true family in every sense of the word.
I hope to lead a community that fosters a thriving musical culture and a strong youth presence— one where Jewish life is enriched through the power of song. If my journey has taught me anything, it is this:“ never stop reaching for your dream.”
I am deeply grateful to my parents, Paula and Michael Geigerman, my grandfathers Phil and Dave, my extended family of aunts, uncles,
