The Rush City School District No . 139 is a comprehensive pre-K to grade 12 district . With strong community support , the school system offers a variety of innovative educational programs . District students have a history of excellence in the classroom , on the athletic field , and in the fine arts . Rush City Schools demonstrates its commitment to excellence by promoting quality instruction , ensuring open communication among staff , parents , and community , and offering a variety of educational opportunities for students . Beginning with the purpose-built Early Childhood environments for the youngest students , all the way to the 1:1 chrome book learning at the high school , Rush City Schools are focused on creating global citizens who are lifelong learners .
Rush City Schools serve approximately 860 students with 62 teaching staff and 22 paraprofessionals . CE Jacobson Elementary ( Early Childhood to Grade 6 ) was remodeled and expanded in 2003 , and the Rush City High School ( grades 7 to 12 ) was built in 1993 . Both buildings have updated technology for students and teaching staff . The surrounding school grounds include the Aquatic / Recreation Center , Andy Saloka Field , Bill West Track , three separate playgrounds , tennis courts , and numerous softball and baseball fields . In an inclusive environment , both of the schools offer a full range of services for students with special needs with access to highly qualified specialists through the St . Croix River Education District ( SCRED ).
A family ’ s educational journey begins with the district ’ s Early Childhood Programs . In partnership with parents , young learners experience the best possible start with age-appropriate programming such as preschool and family education classes . All early childhood classes are offered at C . E . Jacobson Elementary .
Rush City offers Early Childhood Family Education ( ECFE ) classes for children from the time they are infants until they enter kindergarten . The program includes weekly classes for children and their parents , monthly themed classes , and special community events . The district provides free early childhood screening to all children before they start kindergarten , and the screenings take place during the school year .
A smooth and comfortable transition occurs as students enter kindergarten at C . E . Jacobson Elementary . Many students are already familiar with the school environment , school routines , and personnel , which helps them feel very safe and comfortable , thus ready to learn . The school ( grades K to 6 ) provides a respectful and nurturing environment that promotes academic excellence and supports personal growth and development . School-wide expectations for positive interactions are in place and reinforced for all on an ongoing basis . Highly qualified staff create wonderful learning experiences for students . Homeroom classrooms are enhanced by staff members who have expertise in special education , physical education , music , and media .
Elementary students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities through the Community Education Program or local organizations . Programs such as the Knowledge Bowl , Academic Triathlon , and Project Seek challenge students and give them opportunities to compete academically , as well as expand their knowledge with a wide variety of unique experiences . Students interested in athletics can play hockey , softball , baseball , basketball , football , or golf , as well as run track or participate in
