Barnhill Twins Ready to Turn Things Up on Friday Nights in Hoxie. By: Ryan Fletcher
As the 2025 football season inches closer, Dylann and Dalen Barnhill will be entering their final season to play under the Friday night lights for the Hoxie Mustangs. The twins, like most, do everything together and playing football is one they both have a great passion for. Both are excited for what’ s ahead but find it sad knowing it will be the last year they will spend on the gridiron.“ Knowing that this is my last year playing Hoxie High School football is bitter sweet,” told Dylann.“ You get to play the game you love for another year, but there’ s always an ending no matter how well your season goes. This year I think everyone else and I on the team are striving and working for the wins this season so that’ s what I would love to accomplish.” Dalen had a similar opinion with some individual goals in mind.“ Knowing that it is my last season it is bitter sweet. I’ m ready to play every game like it’ s my last,” said Dalen.“ I would like to accomplish having a winning season and interests from colleges.”
The Barnhills have had the luxury of playing sports together for years. It comes with mostly it’ s highs but on occasion the two can lock heads because they are competitors and brothers.“ Playing with my twin brother has been a blessing,” explained Dalen.“ We get to experience the same love and passion for the game of football as well as making memories down the road.” Dylann further explained the awesome experience of sharing the field with his brother.“ There’ s always the occasional butting heads with one another but overall it’ s great. Getting to play sports with my brother is an amazing thing being bonded on and off the field.”
Aside from their time on the field, they spend a great amount of time together off the field.“ Having a twin brother can sometimes be annoying, but I wouldn’ t trade it for the world,” said Dylann.“ Getting to spend time together will always be a thing I will appreciate. Dalen and I usually hang out with friends, and if you see one of us usually the other one ain’ t far behind.” Dalen even mentioned they work the same job together but says being a twin overall has been great.
In between games the two had differing opinions on how they prepare as Dalen mentioned that they are always ready for the next opponent. Dylann discussed time being spent reviewing film together.“ When we prepare for upcoming games there’ s definitely a lot of talking and film discussion. After games we will watch film going over how we did and what we can improve on for the next week.”
