MILLE LACS COUNTY AREA DAC

Mille Lacs County Area DAC is a non-profit provider of person-centered supported employment , day training and habilitation services to adults with intellectual , physical and / or mental health disabilities . The DAC also provides training in community engagement , healthy living , leisure activities and recreation skills . The DAC believes that all people have unique strengths and learning potential and are entitled to individualized services enabling them to live and work to their fullest potential .
Mille Lacs County Area DAC began in 1970 when a group of residents and concerned parents from Mille Lacs and neighboring counties came together with a mission to provide a place where people with disabilities could gain and maintain vocational skills and social opportunities . What began as a small program with seven participants in the basement of the Glendorado Church , has evolved over the years to become the program it is today .
Currently , the Mille Lacs County area DAC serves over 110 adults with disabilities in two locations : Milaca and Princeton . It offers its participants the ability to work in-house and at community supported job sites . In-house , the DAC focus on packaging , assembly , collating , sorting and cleaning . In the community , it has clients working in janitorial , grounds keeping and packaging . The DAC supports others in their efforts to maintain employment in various community enclaves .

Variety is the spice of life , so new attractions are offered each year . In 2024 it was the high-flying Steamers Thrill Show . In 2025 there will be live tigers at the Tiger Encounter , glass blowing demonstrations and two days of presentations by photographer RJ Kern who has been published in National Geographic and has done a photo essay on 4-H competitors .
The fairgrounds and its buildings are available for rent for use by others outside of fair week . The fairgrounds is home to the Princeton Speedway ’ s Friday
night races on the “ fastest quarter-mile on dirt ”, the July 4 Fireworks sponsored by American Post 216 , the Princeton Swap Meet , Kinship
’ s Pumpkin Chuckin ’ and the Trucker Fest Music Festival .
