RIVERVIEW PARK
Riverview Park is located south of Milaca on Central Ave . S . along the banks of the Rum River . There is a picnic shelter with a table and free-standing grill as well as a fire pit , canoe landing and ample parking with a view of the river .
Snowmobiling , tubing , kayaking and canoeing are popular on the Rum River , and Riverview creates a perfect spot for a pit stop , where riders can roast marshmallows and hot dogs or just stop to rest awhile .
The river draws people to it who want to fish , swim , float , splash , wade , picnic , reflect or just sit and take in the magnificent scenery .
RECREATION PARK ( REC PARK )
Rec Park is located on Second St . NW and Fourth Ave . NW along the banks of the Rum River .
There are three shelters in Rec Park : the Lions Shelter ( with electric ), the Sawmill Shelter ( no electric ) and the Rum River Shelter ( with electric ). The bandshell , located just west of the Lions Shelter , provides performing space for music , movies and church services .
The Gorecki Community Center is adjacent to the Splash Pad . The Gorecki Center is air-conditioned , and has a smart TV with HDMI hookup for any presentations you ’ d like to show . Bathrooms are located in this building as well . This is a great facility to rent in the summer for kids ’ birthday parties with the splash pad right there .
Reservations are required to use any of the shelters , bandshell or Gorecki Center .
Access to Milaca ’ s 12 + miles of mountain bike trails is a few steps from Rec Park across a walking bridge that leads to the Forest Hill Cemetery . The bike trails are nestled within 200 acres of woods , hills and fields along the beautiful and scenic Rum River . These bike trails are also used for hiking and cross country skiing .
Rec Park features three softball fields , a skateboard park , horseshoe pits , volleyball court , zip line , six pickleball courts , cornhole targets , a disc golf course and a boulder climbing rock . Since Rec Park is located right on the Rum River , there is canoe / tubing access , and fishing is plentiful .
RV and tent camping are available . There are four campsites , and reservations can be made at www . cityofmilaca . org / reservations . There is a three night maximum stay . During the winter months , skaters come to take advantage of an ice-skating and hockey rink , with an adjacent warming house .
REINEKE PARK
Named after longtime Milaca civic leader Karen Reineke , Reineke Park is located at 10th St . NW and Central Ave . N .
The park features a large archway designed by Reineke that reads , “ Welcome to Milaca .”
Reineke Park has three shelters : Fitzpatrick Shelter in the northwest corner of the park ( closest to the restrooms ), Civic Shelter , with electricity , located in the southwest corner and the East Shelter located on the southeast side of the park closest to Central Ave .
