Team Alaska Represents at the
2025 National ProStart Invitational
This spring, a remarkable group of young Alaskan culinary and hospitality students proudly represented the Last Frontier at the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland. Known as“ Team Alaska,” these talented students earned their place on the national stage by winning top honors at the Alaska State ProStart Competition held on February 8, 2025.
Chugiak High School took home first place in both the Management and Culinary competitions, earning the right to compete nationally against student teams from 48 other states. Their educator, Chef Paulette Ditzler, and Alaska ProStart Director, Chef Rebecca Giedosh-Ruge, guided them every step of the way.
The national competition, held May 2-5 th, was more than just a contest— it was an unforgettable experience. While in Baltimore, Team Alaska explored the city, networked with fellow students, attended a hospitality career fair, and enjoyed dinner at Foraged, a hyper-seasonal restaurant known for its innovative mushroombased cuisine.
