day five
The Manufacturing Week bus tour visited a high-tech training program at Eastern Washington University’ s Mechanical Engineering program. Their classrooms at the EWU campus in Cheney offer a hands-on, industry-aligned education designed to transform ideas into real-world innovations. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering provides a strong foundation in robotics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and automation during the first two years. In the final years, students tackle advanced topics and complete a senior capstone project for practical experience. EWU emphasizes applied learning, supported by industry-experienced faculty and access to stateof-the-art labs in robotics, thermodynamics, fluids, and power systems. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in fields like aerospace, biomechanics, energy, and structural design, with connections to major employers such as Boeing and Lamb Weston.
