Many kinds of fuel are unloaded from rail cars and prepared for transport around the Northwest at the Tidewater Barge Lines’ Snake River Terminal, located at the confluence of the Snake & Columbia Rivers. Tidewater is the largest inland marine transportation company west of the Mississippi River, operating along the full length of the Columbia-Snake River System— from Lewiston, Idaho to Longview, Washington. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, Tidewater specializes in transporting a wide range of bulk and containerized commodities including: grain( with 62 barges capable of carrying over 6.7 million bushels); refined petroleum products( ethanol, biodiesel, and renewable fuels); wood products like wood chips, pulp, and paper; liquid and dry fertilizers; solid waste and export containers; project cargo such as wind turbine components and heavy equipment. Tidewater owns and operates 14 towboats and approximately 160 barges, supported by a full-time team of mechanics, electricians, and welders.
