Peer Mentoring
The GDC proudly recognizes our 221 dedicated R . I . S . E . ( Reinforcing , Instructing , Supporting , and Encouraging ) mentors . These peer mentors play a vital role in transforming lives by supporting and inspiring their fellow offenders . They equip individuals with the necessary attitudes and skills to ensure their success both during incarceration and after re-entering society .
The GDC appreciates Central Georgia Technical College ( CGTC ) for providing a peer mentoring program for the juvenile offenders . This program is designed to inspire , motivate , and provide guidance through shared stories , experiences , and shared values by CGTC ’ s college athletic staff .
Helping Others
Recently , during the winter weather , staff from Coastal State Prison came to the aid of a family member who was stuck in a ditch due to low visibility . The staff successfully helped them out of the ditch , allowing them to pick up their family member and safely continue on their way .
