“ After joining the military in high school, my life changed in an instant. Less than a year after returning from training, I was t-boned by a school bus in a car accident. I wasn’ t expected to live— but I did. After nearly three months of inpatient rehab and six months of day rehab, I had to relearn how to walk, talk, eat, and do so many things most people take for granted. Step by step, I rebuilt my life: I relearned how to drive, bought my own condo, went back to school, and earned my AS, BS, and MS in Accounting, along with my EA and CFE credentials. I even relearned how to ride a bike— and today, I compete nationally and internationally on a trike with the ultimate goal of reaching the Paralympic Games. I’ m also starting my own business to help small businesses with bookkeeping.
I first found Face of America through a simple Google search back in 2020, and it’ s become so much more than just a ride for me. It’ s a chance to connect with others, to share stories, and to be part of a community where I always look forward to seeing both new and familiar faces.”

Face of America: Gettysburg World TEAM Challenge: Valley of the Sun
“ As a veteran and adaptive athlete, cycling has become more than just a sport for me— it’ s been a pathway to healing, growth, and connection. After facing challenges that tested both my body and spirit, I turned to cycling as a way to push my limits and reclaim a sense of strength and freedom. Each mile reminds me of resilience, and every ride gives me a renewed sense of purpose.
I first connected with World TEAM through the veteran community in Atlanta, and their mission immediately resonated with me. When I learned about the Face of America ride from Arlington to Gettysburg, I knew I wanted to be part of it. That ride didn’ t just push me physically— it gave me the chance to be part of something bigger. World TEAM has shown me that no journey has to be taken alone. We lift each other up, both on and off the bike. The friendships, encouragement, and sense of accomplishment I’ ve found here will stay with me far beyond the finish line.”
