“ I’ m a 100 % Disabled Veteran with TBI, PTSD, and mobility challenges from military injuries. After more than 40 surgeries, I couldn’ t walk far, couldn’ t run, and the medications I needed left me obese. The hardest part wasn’ t just the physical pain— it was the feeling that I had become a burden to my family, especially my wife.
That changed when fellow veterans encouraged me to join World TEAM Sports. In 2023, I signed up for the Face of America Ride on my adaptive recumbent trike. To prepare, I lost 45 pounds and discovered not only my strength but my worth. Every mile, the staff, Marshals, and riders reminded me that I belonged— that I was valued. Crossing that finish line gave me back my confidence, my mental clarity, and a new title: I’ m not just a wounded veteran. I’ m a cyclist.”

“ In 2005, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I live with weak legs, chronic pain, and fatigue, but cycling gives me freedom. A veteran friend introduced me to World TEAM Sports, and together we took on Face of America— over 100 miles on our bikes. What started as a daunting challenge has now become a tradition; I’ ve returned year after year, riding to Gettysburg five times and Liberty once.
In 2025— 20 years after my diagnosis— I finally completed the ride. The support of World TEAM, the encouragement from communities along the route, and the camaraderie of fellow athletes proved to me that I can do hard things despite MS. Face of America gave me confidence, perseverance, and a community that will always have a special place in my heart.”
