The pursuit of inspiration and excellence is at the core of the Eden Prairie Schools’ mission. In each of the district’ s classrooms, dedicated staff members inspire students daily.
Eden Prairie Schools is led by Superintendent Josh Swanson, who has been with the district since 2017. It’ s governed by the seven-member Eden Prairie School Board, who are elected to four-year terms during even years.
Regular business meetings are held the fourth Monday of the month and a workshop is held the second Monday of each month. Both are held at the Administrative Services Center at 8100 School Road in Eden Prairie. All meetings are open to the public except when specifically permitted by law to be closed.
Eden Prairie Schools has six elementary schools which include Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion School, along with Central Middle School and Eden Prairie High School, which is the fifth-largest high school in the state.
Community Education also boasts Little Eagles Preschool, which aligns with the Eden Prairie Schools curriculum and works closely with Early Childhood Special Education. The school district also boasts EP Online, a flexible, fully online K-12 school open to all students in Minnesota.
The district’ s TASSEL Transition program is also available for students ages 18-22 to help them transition to life beyond high school. Community members of all ages participate in enriching educational opportunities offered by the district’ s Community Education Department. The district attracts some of the most sought-after professionals in the state. Approximately 76 % of teachers have a master’ s degree or beyond.
The school district boasts its commitment to low-class size with the lowest average kindergarten through second grade class size in the west metro. With student safety and wellbeing in mind, a recent referendum approved by Eden Prairie voters funded additional safety features like protective glass, an updated communication system and lock-down equipment.
Students of all ability levels find a rigorous curriculum in Eden Prairie Schools. Mosaic is a full-day program for gifted students in grades three to five providing a challenging curriculum at an accelerated pace. The Key program provides targeted gifted and talented support within classrooms in second through fifth grade.
Created to support teachers and students, the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools organizes several events throughout the year to raise funds that go directly to teachers and students. In April 2024, the foundation presented a $ 100,000 grant to the school to be used to create an Emerging Technologies Lab at the high school.
