City departments here to serve

The city of Eagan is overseen by City Administrator Dianne Miller and the Eagan City Council, which is comprised of a mayor and four at-large council members.
The city of 69,086 residents and 33.5 square miles is dynamic and vibrant with a variety of housing, neighborhoods, commercial activity, schools, parks, and more. It’ s the second largest city in Dakota County and eighth largest in the state.
It takes a lot of people to run the city, which also includes Dakota County operated facilities such as Lebanon Hills Regional Park and the Wescott Library, which serves as the main office for the Dakota County Library System( Page 20).
The city includes departments and leadership for Administration, Communications, Community Development, Finance, Public Works, Police, Fire, and Parks and Recreation.
The departments carry out daily operations under the guidance of the City Council, which establishes the city’ s overall priorities and direction. The council adopts and upholds local laws and public policies. It appoints approximately 35-40 residents to serve on various commissions to research and advise on specific topics.
The council is served by Mayor Mike Maguire and council members Paul Bakken, Gary Hansen, Cyndee Fields, and
Mike Supina. The council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p. m. at City Hall. A“ Listening Session” is also held at 6 p. m., prior to each regular City Council meeting when the public may address items that are not on the agenda. The Eagan Police Department is co-located at City Hall. More information about the department is on Page 22.
