Officer Cedric Montgomery was honored with the 2024 Governor’ s Public Safety Award after rescuing three children from a burning vehicle while reporting for duty. Acting quickly and without regard for his own safety, he broke a window to reach the last trapped child, extinguished flames, and sustained injuries during the rescue— preventing a tragedy and exemplifying the highest standards of service at DCS.
