Summer was fun, But Now It’ s Back to Class!
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer, filled with books, outdoor play, swimming, camp fun, and maybe even a vacation or two. Summer is such a special time to relax, unwind, and take a break from rigid schedules.
But as August arrives, it’ s time to return to school— time to re-establish routines, meet new teachers, and put on our thinking caps!
In Judaism, we place a high value on wisdom and learning. One of the greatest honors a person can achieve is to be called a talmid chacham, or wise student. A wise person isn’ t just someone with knowledge, but someone who is always open to learning more.
As we begin this new school year, let’ s remember that knowledge can come from many places. Of course, children will gain a lot at school, but they also learn from their parents, grandparents, peers, and the world around them.
Potential teachers are everywhere, and learning opportunities are all around us. In fact, we as parents often find ourselves learning from our children, too.
So as this season of new learning begins, let’ s all be on the lookout for moments that can deepen our understanding and spark our curiosity. As Socrates said,“ Wisdom begins in wonder.” Let’ s follow our children’ s lead— and wonder a little more.
Wishing you all a great start to the new school year! – Miss Sara
