Chabad of Charlotte Preparing for the 30th Edition of the Charlotte Jewish Calendar

By Rabbi Shlomo Cohen, Chabad of Charlotte
It’ s hard to believe, but this year we celebrate the 30th edition of the Charlotte Jewish Calendar— a remarkable milestone that reflects not only the passage of time, but the strength and spirit of our community.
For three decades, this calendar has been delivered to over 5,000 Jewish homes and businesses throughout greater Charlotte, quietly doing something extraordinary: helping us all stay connected. Connected to Shabbat and the holidays. Connected to Jewish learning and tradition. Connected to each other.
The Jewish calendar isn’ t just a list of dates— it’ s the heartbeat of Jewish life. It reminds us when to gather, when to reflect, when to celebrate, and when to pause. And when those moments are shared across a community— when we light candles at the
same time, read the same parshah, or attend the same events— something beautiful happens. We don’ t just mark time; we build community.
This year’ s 5786 edition is designed with that in mind. In addition to the important holidays and candle lighting times, it includes educational highlights, moments of Jewish history, and local happenings— all with the goal of bringing Jewish life a little closer to home. We hope it becomes a meaningful companion on your fridge, your desk, or wherever you plan your days.
We’ re proud that this calendar has become a small but powerful way for Chabad of Charlotte to help foster Jewish connection across the city. We also recognize that it’ s the shared support and enthusiasm of this community that has allowed it to grow into what it is today.
As we step into the new year
together, may the calendar serve not only as a guide through 5786, but as a reminder that our greatest strength lies in what we build together— a vibrant, welcoming, and deeply rooted Jewish Charlotte.
