and must re-secure their phone / smart watch in their pouch upon re-entry to school.
• Late Arrivals: Students arriving late must check in at the front desk. Office staff will confirm students’ phones / smart watches are locked in the Yondr pouch before entering the hallways. Students are responsible for keeping their phone / smart watch secured in their Yondr pouch at all times during the school day
• Once school has dismissed for the day, students will be allowed to unlock pouches utilizing designated unlocking stations.
• Senior Option: Senior Option / Senior Lunch will be phone free for all Seniors that remain on-campus during that time. Seniors that are on-campus for Senior Option / Lunch are expected to have their phones turned off / powered down( not on silent or vibrate mode) and remain in their assigned phone pouch. Students who leave campus for Senior Option / Lunch will be allowed to unlock their phone / smart watch from its pouch upon leaving campus, however, the phone / smart watch must be locked back in the pouch upon returning to campus.
• Students who lose or damage their assigned phone pouch will be required to pay a replacement fee.
• If a student fails to place their phone / smart watch in the assigned pouch a demerit will be issued.
• Phone Free Policy Consequences:
1. Failure to follow daily procedure( e. g., failing morning check by arriving without your pouch or not having your phone / smart watch locked / secured in your pouch):
• The student will receive a demerit for not complying with the daily procedure and expectations.
2. If a student is found with a phone or smart watch during the school day( e. g., student arrived late and did not secure their phone / smart watch upon reporting to class).
• First Offense: One Hour of EMD; phone / smart watch collected and held in the front office until the end of the school day.
• Second Offense: Saturday School; phone / smart watch collected and held in the front office until picked up by a parent.
• Third Offense: In-School Suspension( ISS); parent meeting and phone / smart watch collected and held in the front office until picked up by a parent.
3. If a student knowingly deceives faculty / staff( e. g., during the morning check claims not to have a phone or pouch but is later found using a phone / smart watch or unlocks the pouch without permission):
• This will be treated as a Phone / Smart Watch Honor Code Violation. Disciplinary actions will follow CPA’ s Honor Code procedures:
• First Offense: Saturday School
• Second Offense: Suspension, as determined by school administration
• Third Offense: Parent and student will meet with school administration to determine potential probation or continued enrollment
AUDIO AND VIDEO
• Audio on computers and mobile devices should be turned off unless required for the activity being conducted.
• Audio or video recording and taking digital images of others is not allowed unless prior permission of all parties being recorded is received.
• Listening to music, either aloud or with earphones, is not permitted during class without teacher permission.
• Listening to music during free periods or at other times while on campus is permitted unless it is disruptive to other activities taking place. Faculty and staff can further restrict this use at their discretion.
• Sharing of content such as Music, TV-Shows, Movies, and Video Clips, either over the internal network or hosted in the cloud such as Google Drive, is strictly prohibited.
• Listening to Internet music websites during the academic day is strictly prohibited, as it has a negative impact on the availability of school Internet resources( bandwidth) for academic purposes.
• Video streaming of any kind is only allowed with the permission and supervision of a faculty member in conjunction with a class project or school-related activity. Video streaming has a negative impact on the availability of school Internet resources( bandwidth) for academic purposes.
GAMES
• Electronic games are not permitted during academic hours except as part of an assigned, in-class activity with permission from faculty. The academic day, as it pertains to games, is the same as that for mobile phones.
• Games that include violence, adult content, inappropriate language, or weapons are not to be installed or played on school computers, including laptops or iPads. The school reserves the right to remove any game from a school-owned or an individually owned device that is considered inappropriate.
SCHOOL-OWNED COMPUTERS
• Students will not change any operating-system configuration or settings that have been set by the technology department.
• Students are not allowed to create any BIOS or Open Firmware passwords on any school computer, laptop, or iPad. BIOS or Open Firmware passwords are set through the computer’ s hardware and are not the same as regular passwords.
• Students are prohibited from accessing faculty, administration, and staff computers, as well as school servers, for any reason without explicit permission from the user or administrator of the computer or server.
LAPTOPS AND IPADS
CPA requires all student iPads to have a school-issued owner label
• All CPA-issued devices will be labeled
• All devices, whether personally owned or obtained through the school, are expected to be in good working order at all times.
• Student laptops and iPads must not be left unattended at any time. They must be in a student’ s possession or secured in a locked classroom or locker at all times. If a laptop or iPad is found unattended, it will be turned in to the school administrator.
