Support federal legislation like H. R. 801 and S. 317 to restore and expand the universal charitable tax deduction. Advocate with state legislators to sponsor bills supporting a state charitable tax deduction. Support H. R. 314, which would reduce costsharing requirements for federal grants to eligible nonprofit organizations. Advocate for the removal of floors and caps on charitable contributions that limit giving incentives, as established in H. R. 1.
Individual Giving Decreased by 13.4 % Nationally
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act left fewer taxpayers eligible for tax incentives to donate to charities. As a result, individual giving decreased by 13.4 % nationally. [ 6 ]
Collaborate with the National Council of Nonprofits and Kentucky Nonprofit Network to advocate for laws that will strengthen the nonprofit sector and workforce.
Advocate for H. R. 4862 which expands the types of loan repayment plans that qualify under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Promote access to affordable childcare to provide employees with the support they need to remain in the workforce. The Home will endorse legislation at all levels to bolster affordable childcare options.
97 % Denied Loan Forgiveness
From July 2022 to June 2023, 97 % of people applying for loan forgiveness were denied due to having the wrong loan type or repayment plan. [ 7 ]
