Complex Care Center Expansion

During the 2024 state legislative session, Home of the Innocents successfully secured a $ 30 million appropriation from the legislature and obtained a Certificate of Need from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to support the renovation and expansion of the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center( KCC).
Plans include constructing a 75,000-square-foot building to accommodate 50 additional residents. Expanding our Complex Care Center from 76 beds to 126 beds will allow us to better serve Kentucky’ s children with medical complexities. To build upon our state-level success, Home of the Innocents will:
Collaborate with federal lawmakers to secure a matching $ 30 million congressional allocation in 2026.
Cultivate relationships with Louisville Metro Council members and the Mayor’ s Office to gain local financial support for the KCC expansion.
