NOTE: U. S. citizenship or permanent residency is a requirement for licensure within certain academic programs. Students who do not qualify as U. S. citizens or permanent residents, including international, DACA, or undocumented students, etc. should carefully review the licensure requirements for their state before enrolling in a degree program that leads to licensure.
Additional information can be found on the National Conference of State Legislatures website. In addition, certain programs require background checks that require a U. S. social security number; students without a U. S. social security number will not be able to complete these requirements.
Traditional BSN
Gwynedd Mercy University adopts a holistic approach in evaluating each application, taking into account all admission criteria.
Prospective students are required to meet the following criteria:
• Fulfill university admission requirements.
• Earn a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. GPA lower than 3.0 will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
• Provide an essay explaining the choice of nursing as a profession( as part of your application).
Home-Schooled Students All home-schooled students must complete and submit all application materials required of traditional applicants, in addition to a transcript from a home-school accrediting body.
External Transfer Students who meet admission eligibility requirements and transfer 32 – 45 transferable credits may earn a BSN in 3 years. Admissions requirements include:
• Meet university admission requirements.
• Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of3.0.
• Submit transcripts from all college( s) attended.
• In addition to meeting general university requirements, all science courses( e. g., Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, and Chemistry), must be completed with a grade of " C +" or higher, if applicable.
• Students may not repeat a science or math course more than once.
• Transfer students who have not satisfied the Chemistry course requirement must take Chemistry 111 with lab at Gwynedd Mercy University. Chemistry courses taken outside GMercyU will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
• All science courses are required to include a“ hands-on” lab experience. Virtual labs for the required sciences are not transferable.
• Science courses must have been successfully completed within the previous7 years.
• Earn a minimum grade of " C +" in the Nutrition course, taught by a Registered Dietician, if applicable.
• Provide an essay explaining the choice of nursing as a profession.
