ADMISSIONS: UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
First-time Students
All traditional first year applicants that have not attended any other college or university post-high School graduation must submit the following:
• Online application found at https:// apply. gmercyu. edu / apply / or the Common Application. Students should complete only one application for admission consideration.
• Evidence of high school graduation, which can be demonstrated through an official transcript or a copy of their General Educational Development( GED) test results or certificate. The high school transcript should show satisfactory completion of( or current enrollment in) at least 16 units in the following areas:
English Mathematics Science History College pre-electives
4 units 3 units 3 units 1 unit 3 units
The minimum GPA requirement for university admission is a 2.5 / 4.0 cumulative unweighted GPA. Specific academic majors and the honors program may have a GPA higher than the university minimum.
Gwynedd Mercy University is test blind, which means students may apply with or without submitting scores from the ACT or SAT. Standardized test scores are not required and not used in the admission decision.
The following programs require a meeting / interview with the Program Director: Respiratory Care and Occupational Science. In addition to an interview, the Radiation Therapy program requires a shadow experience before a student can be accepted into the program.
Applicants also may be asked to submit an essay or personal statement and / or be asked to participate in an interview during the application review process if additional information is required for admission or if a student is below the university minimum requirements for admission.
NOTE: Letters of Recommendation are not required, but are recommended. If submitted, the letter of recommendation should discuss the applicant’ s character and potential for success as a university student, and should be sent from a high school teacher, principal, or guidance counselor.
Once a student’ s application file is complete, the Admissions team makes a decision based on University admissions standards and any specific requirements of the applicant’ s intended program of study. The student is notified of the decision as soon as possible after the requirements listed above have been met.
