Introduction to Digital Communication
Students explore the use of social and digital media as a means to gather information, communicate, consume news, create identities and create communities. Through an examination of the digital divide, privacy and AI, students broaden their understanding of digital and social media. Students develop pre-professional logos and create audio and video content.

Digital Analytics & Visualization
Students will explore digital analytics, big data, and data visualization while earning a Google Analytics certification. Hands-on projects will focus on campaign tracking, tagging, web traffic measurement, dashboards and more. Opportunity to earn Google Analytics Certification.
COMD-201
Digital Storytelling
Students are introduced to the creation of visual and audio content for use on social and digital media platforms utilizing the same smart phone they use everyday. Basic skills such as framing, composition, audio quality and website development will be covered in theory and with hands-on application. Students will host projects on their own websites. Smartphone and APP purchase required.

Public Relations
This course covers the development of the public relations industry from its
historical beginnings to contemporary application, including the relationship
between theory and practice. While reviewing many specific areas of the
field including media relations and crisis communication, the course
highlights the core of utilizing public opinion and persuasion, as well as the
arena of strategic counsel. Opportunity to earn CisionPoint Certification.

Digital Media Culture & Society
Students will explore the relationship between digital media and culture, domestically and in the global setting. Topics include convergence, mobile media, digital gaming, journalism, augmented reality and globalization. Opportunity to earn Twitter Flight Deck Certification

Online Content / Search Engine Optimizatio
Online content-- video, blogs, images, podcasts and more--- are often designed to reach targeted audiences to nurture relationships and lead online consumers to conversion. In this course, students learn content development skills that connect communication objectives to innovative, research-based strategies including search engine optimization. Hands-on content assignments address building awareness and social communities as well as e-commerce and conversion. Projects will be incorporated into students ' online digital portfolios. Opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications.
