Program Description: The purposes of the Master of Science in Nursing program are to prepare professional nurses for advanced practice as nurse practitioners( NP) and to provide a base for doctoral study. The nurse practitioner( NP) areas offered are Adult Gerontology Primary Care, Pediatrics Primary Care and Family Nurse Practitioner.
Preparation for Professional Licensure / Certification: Graduation from all of Gwynedd Mercy University ' s APRN programs prepares students for national certification by an associated certifying body. National certification is an expectation for practice nationwide. APRN authorization varies from state-tostate with some states awarding APRN licenses, some providing APRN endorsements on a nurse’ s RN licenses, or other systems which have been designated by the state’ s Board of Nursing. Students considering one of Gwynedd Mercy University ' s APRN programs are encouraged to contact the Board of Nursing in the state they wish to practice in to determine additional practice requirements.

Graduate Admissions Requirements Master of Science in Nursing Admissions Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Higher Education( CCNE), or Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing( ACEN),( previously National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission( NLNAC), or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation( CNEA).
• GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale for highest earned degree
