3. Having 4 or more total absences in a single class may result in course failure and a requirement to retake the course. Having 4 or more episodes of lateness to a single course in the fall, spring, or summer terms may result in a 5-point final grade deduction from that respective course. 4. Examinations missed due to absence will only be rescheduled at the discretion of the instructor and proper notification of absence was given prior to the exam. 5. The student is responsible for all material covered in the course regardless of absences.
Criteria for Successful MSSLP Degree Completion: To successfully complete the MSSLP Program at Gwynedd Mercy University, students must meet the following criteria:
• Successfully complete all didactic and clinical courses outlined in the curriculum with no more than 2 C’ s in the program, no single grade that is a C- or lower, and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Successfully complete 375 clinical clock hours supervised by an ASHA CCC certified speechlanguage pathologist( with 25 required observation hours, total hours = 400).
• Successfully complete and pass the summative capstone project with a grade of 80 % or better.
The maximum time allotted for completion of all graduate degree programs at Gwynedd Mercy University is six years.
Tuition and Fees: Graduate tuition for the MSSLP Program can be found on the university’ s Financial Aid and Tuition website. MSSLP Program Fees are required for membership to CALIPSO and Simucase, and a program polo shirt. Additional costs to the students can include: graduate health insurance; Complio clearance, health and wellness tracking; American Heart Association Heart Saver First Aid, CPR, and AED certification; health clearances( e. g., annual flu shot, physical, and immunizations); uniform or personal protective equipment( PPE) attire if a clinical site holds dress and / or PPE requirements; transportation to the university and clinical placement sites; and required books / course materials.
Non-Academic Criteria for Admission, Progression and Retention
Essential Functions: The essential functions of a university program refer to the basic skills and abilities that students must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, in order to successfully complete the program. The field of speech-language pathology requires the acquisition of specific knowledge and skills as outlined by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology( 2021). Essential functions in a Master of Science( MS) Speech-Language Pathology( SLP) Program exist as a guide for determining foundational skills and abilities necessary for students to fully participate in and benefit from graduate experiences and to be successful in the workplace.
Essential Functions Requirements: A graduate student in the MSSLP Program at Gwynedd Mercy University must be able to complete the basic requirements when provided reasonable accommodations and / or modifications in order to be qualified for admission, be retained in the program, and be employed as a speech-language pathologist. GMercyU MSSLP students are required to perform the following essential functions with or without accommodations as outlined below:
