Time to Completion: The program is a 12-credit-hour curriculum comprising three courses focused on nursing education: NUR 660 Nurse Educator Seminar I, NUR 661 Nurse Educator Seminar II, and NUR 606 Teaching Practicum.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY Program Name: Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Degree: Master of Science Program Accreditation: The entry-level occupational therapy master’ s degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education( ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association( AOTA), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852- 4929. Program Type: The MSOT program is a degree program with course offerings in the summer, fall, and spring. The summer term of the MSOT program is seven weeks in duration and does not align with the summer I or summer II schedules outlined by the university. Program Modality: The didactic portion of the MSOT program is delivered on-ground. During the final term of the program, the students will be on two consecutive level II fieldwork experiences as well as completing one online course( OSC 702). Program Director: Thomas Mernar
Certification and Credentialing Requirements: Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy( NBCOT ®). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered( OTR). In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT ® Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’ s ability to sit for the NBCOT ® certification examination or attain state licensure.
Program Degree Level: The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy offers an entry- level Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy( MSOT).
Program Description: The philosophy of Gwynedd Mercy University’ s MSOT Program is to provide an education that is centered on Mercy beliefs and the educational philosophy of the occupational therapy profession. We believe in a developmental and integrative occupational therapy education that will: challenge students’ knowledge and understanding of the complexity of occupation and disability; examine the profession’ s domain in traditional and emerging practice areas; and foster the skills to using the occupational therapy process to support the occupational needs of individuals, groups, communities, and populations across multiple practice areas. We believe in reinforcing the philosophical and applied tenets of the foundations of professional practice, occupational science, client-centered practice, occupation-based practice, evidence-based practice, and professional development throughout our didactic and fieldwork curriculum.
