Students should consult with their academic advisor the year before they plan to register for the internship. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off-campus experiential learning opportunities; there may be exceptions for particular courses, for which students should consult their advisors.
DIGITAL COMMUNICATION

Program Description: The Digital Communication program is designed for students interested in professional roles in content creation, production, social media, marketing, and more. Rooted in strategic business decision-making, courses guide students in the development of technology-oriented communication skills. Portfolio-building assignments and industry-recognized certifications are at the core of the Digital Communication program and prepare students for professional life.
Digital Communication majors are eligible to apply for the 4 + 1 MBA program. Students should meet with their advisor in their junior year to apply to the 4 + 1 program.
Program Student Learning Outcomes: PLO1 Gather and analyze information from a variety of relevant, credible sources; PLO2 Produce targeted, audience specific content that aligns with storytelling techniques; PLO3 Demonstrate technical competency across digital and social media; PLO4 Identify and analyze socially responsible, Mercy-focused and business-oriented practices; PLO5 Identify digital media practices and implications in domestic and global business and social settings
Experiential Learning: Students are required to engage in an internship, which allows them to put theory into practice, observe professionals engaging their field of study, practice their skills under the supervision of seasoned professionals, network within their chosen field, and gain valuable experience.
