Margie Alley , diagnosed with PD
The Parkinson ' s Unity Walk marked in 2012 at 48 , has 30 years of celebrating the brought her family community in 2024 . and friends to the Unity Walk for 11 years , topping her own fundraising best every year . “ Margie ’ s Movement ” has raised more $ 100,000 for Parkinson ’ s research , but the event means more than the money her group raised . “ I love the spirit of the event ; just to see the sea of people who all know about PD , live it , get it , understand it and want to support a family member or friend ,” she said .
For Ted Stein , whose father lived with Parkinson ’ s , participating in the Unity Walk is a way to honor him and help others living with PD . “ Papa ’ s Rockin ’ NJ Walkers ,” named for the affectionate name given his father by his grandchildren , have participated for 16 years , with 2024 marking their 17th year attending the event .
For the many people living with PD and their friends and families , the Parkinson ’ s Unity Walk remains a place to find and celebrate community , honor their loved ones and help others by giving back .
