A staple of the Parkinson ’ s community for three decades , the Parkinson ’ s Unity Walk in New York City marked its 30th year last April with thousands of people with PD and their families and friends coming together for a joyous day of celebrating community in Central Park .
Over 5,000 people attended on a sunny and cool Saturday , walking the 1.2-mile route and raising more than $ 1.2 million for critical Parkinson ' s research and public policy priorities , which was nearly doubled by a donor match for a total of $ 2.2 million . One
