Northwest Greenway : Preserving natural landscape

One of Plymouth ’ s most treasured gems , the Northwest Greenway preserves a large amount of the city ’ s natural space , including wetlands , while offering residents a picturesque way to enjoy the outdoors .
Spanning approximately two linear miles from Lake Camelot on the east side of Plymouth to the Northwest Greenway Pavilion and Challenge Course to the west , Greenway trails connect neighborhoods and several parks , including Aspen Ridge , Legacy Greenway , Lake Camelot and the Plymouth Dog Park .
Voters approved a $ 9 million referendum in 2006 to acquire land and preserve the 2.5-mile swath of natural area in northwest Plymouth .
Pavilion and Challenge Course
The Northwest Greenway Pavilion opened in the fall of
2021 at 5250 Peony Lane . The open-air pavilion offers amenities for hosting a variety of gatherings , including a plaza , parking , drinking fountains , restrooms , a servery with a sink , a green room for events , a serving counter , a refrigerator and more .
With nearby boardwalks that overlook the Elm Creek wetlands , the pavilion provides a formal parking and access point for residents to utilize the Northwest Greenway ’ s looping trails . The pavilion sits adjacent to the Challenge Course , which opened in 2020 .
The Northwest Greenway Challenge Course serves as an amenity for ages 13 and older and offers unique activity challenges involving netting , climbing , balancing and agility on a variety of structures .
