“ Living with . . .” community education series
Several Living with Afib and Living with Heart Failure evening community events were held in Dallas and Fort Worth . Expert presenters provided attendees with helpful information on managing chronic conditions , heart arrhythmias and heart failure , as well as signs and symptoms for a variety of conditions .

Heart disease is the number one killer of women . There are several events throughout the year focused on women and heart health .
The annual February Women and Heart Health event is hosted virtually with a panel of six to eight physicians and is widely popular . In fiscal year 2024 , there were more than 190 women listening to the evening webinar .
A May event was held in Fort Worth in collaboration with Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center - Fort Worth to increase awareness about the impact genetics has on health . Called “ Know Your Genes ,” the brunch hosted 200 women .
In Dallas , specialists on the medical staff joined Modern Luxury - Dallas magazine ’ s “ Modern Moms ” tea event to provide an open conversation with a panel of physicians . Also in May , Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital - Waxahachie assisted a local non-profit organization , HealthLore Community Outreach , with a day-long women ’ s health and wellness event held in Red Oak .
Wired for Life
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas teams up with past implantable cardioverter defibrillator ( ICD ) recipients to provide future or past ICD recipients with support , comfort and answers to questions . Volunteers are also available to speak with future recipients and family members before and after an ICD procedure . Classes have been scheduled every other month for the past nearly 14 years .

Wellness and screening events
Our mission at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital includes giving back to the community , providing health screenings and preventive health education . Community outreach means informing and educating the broader community , and identifying neighborhoods in need . Activities include collaborating with civic organizations , city government departments and area churches to help improve community health .
Every three years , Baylor Scott & White Health completes a Community Health Needs Assessment in every region where a Baylor Scott & White facility is located . As part of the Dallas and Fort Worth metropolitan health communities , the assessment reports for Baylor Scott & White Health guide outreach initiatives for hospital leaders in their respective markets .

Community volunteerism
The team at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas remained committed to providing all employees with opportunities to be actively involved in the community . This took many forms in fiscal year 2024 . The STARRS * committee of employees met regularly to discuss community involvement and requests from various organizations who needed assistance .
