Continuous learning
Hospital team members are encouraged to continually learn and grow their professional skills , clinical expertise and business acumen . Employees have opportunities to grow in professional development by advancing their technical degrees and certification or achieving a doctorate in a variety of related programs . Tuition reimbursement is available through Baylor Scott & White for formalized training .
Leaders can also choose to participate in unique educational programs including the Business Executive Leadership training program at Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business . Baylor Scott & White Health supports leaders to grow professionally through this program . At the culmination of the program , the participants share their research , case studies or process improvement projects . Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital generally has two leaders who participate every year . Brandi Crow , MSN , RN , NEA-BC , Director of Value-Based Healthcare , Clinical Risk and Operational Excellence , together with fiscal year 2024 Manager of Service Excellence and Patient Experience , Michelle Sension , MBA , BSN , RN , NE-BC , completed the SMU fellowship program in September 2023 .
Often strong clinical team members advance into leadership roles . An important ongoing educational initiative is providing leadership development onsite . Led by Marcy Hart , an executive coach for more than eight years with the organization , coaching includes one-on-one development focused on emotional intelligence , time management and executive presence . She also coordinates leadership book clubs three times per year for all those in a management role .

Bo Wu , RN , CCRN , SVN , is the hospital ’ s most tenured preceptor . She is the preceptor everyone wishes to have , and the clinical coach others strive to become . She has been instrumental in the growth and development of the staff .

Bill Blount is a Vietnam veteran and built a successful firm as an actuary consultant . He has volunteered with Caring Hearts ® since 2001 , bringing comfort and compassion to countless patients and their families .
