FORDHAM PREP 2024 ANNUAL GIVING REPORT
HONORING DENNIS McCORMACK ’ 76
left unrealized upon his passing in 2023 . Honoring his memory and passion , Laurie has established an estate gift to Fordham Prep , transforming her husband ’ s aspiration into a tangible legacy and ensuring his beloved alma mater continues to shape future generations .
Dennis McCormack ’ 76 had a memorable experience at Fordham Prep , both as a student and later as the Director of Development . He played football and ran track while studying at Fordham Prep . Upon returning to the historic Rose Hill campus in 1983 , he was tasked with improving the Prep ’ s fundraising programs , including planned giving , the annual fund , and capital campaigns . In 1987 , he moved on to fill a Major Gifts Officer role at Boston College .
Laurie , the widow of Dennis McCormack , is fulfilling her late husband ’ s ardent dream of supporting Fordham Prep , the institution he credited for inspiring his lifelong pursuit of excellence . McCormack often spoke of his deep-rooted connection to the Prep and his desire to make a planned gift , a wish
“ It ’ s about people believing that being philanthropic and leaving behind something for others is a priority for them ,” Laurie explained . “ Dennis believed in that and I only wish we had done it sooner so he could have seen the start of his legacy .”
Laurie ’ s choice to include Fordham Prep as a beneficiary of an IRA is a straightforward , yet impactful , way to create a lasting legacy . “ Estate gifts can grow with you , allowing you to give a larger gift than you may have thought possible ,” she noted .
If you are inspired by Dennis McCormack ’ s story , consider making Fordham Prep a beneficiary of your future generosity . By incorporating the Prep into your estate plans , you ensure that your assets are distributed according to your wishes , rather than being determined by state law . Taking this step not only secures your legacy but also supports the Catholic Jesuit experience Fordham Prep seeks to provide to students of all socioeconomic backgrounds . n
