Cross Functional Sustainability Committee
The Cross Functional Sustainability Committee serves an integral role in implementing the goals of the Airports Authority’ s Sustainability Plan.
This collaborative team includes employees from different departments, spanning 15 areas of expertise across Dulles International and Reagan National airports, who meet at regular intervals to discuss Sustainability Plan initiatives and overarching objectives. Beyond this primary function, the group also identifi es strategies for expanding sustainability targets and acts as a hub for idea exchange, data collection and information dissemination across various airport departments.
Green Concessions Program
Since 2022, the Green Concessions Program has incentivized tenants at Dulles International and Reagan National airports to integrate sustainable practices into their operations. This voluntary initiative evaluates concession operators annually on their commitments to reducing waste and emissions, energy and water conservation, air quality impacts and social responsibility. Locations that meet the certifi cation criteria can proudly display the Airports Authority’ s Green Concessions program seal to refl ect their accomplishments.
In 2024, 39 food and retail concessions at Reagan National and Dulles International airports were recognized during a ceremony held on May 16, 2024. After congratulating the award recipients, CEO Jack Potter said,“ While our concessionaires have been making positive impacts in the environmental area for years, the Green Concessions effort is creating greater incentives to adopt even more and broader sustainability practices.”
