Baseball is by far my favorite sport because when I am on the diamond I am at home . I love basketball too , but it is second on my list . Playing for Coach Coffman has been great too . I got to make some really good relationships during my time on the court . Finding success on the hardwood wasn ' t always just a walk in the park . When we played good team ball the success was electric as in any other sport . We had our tough times but all in all we had a great season . Basketball will always have a place in my heart .
5 . Who has been your favorite teammate to play with and why ? I have played with a lot of great players in my high school career in both sports , and I could talk about several but two in particular stand out and those two gentlemen are Dawson Chester and Nolan Belcher . I played with Dawson my freshman year at Pocahontas and to this day we are close buddies . Dawson always believed in me and saw from an early stage I had a passion for the game . Nolan Belcher has been my brother on the diamond since we first played travel ball together . We have a connection on the field that I don ' t know if I will ever have again . He is a stand out athlete himself and his presence on the field is absolutely insane . Everyone knows when Nolan is on the field . He makes me better every day and is an awesome person as well .
6 . Walnut Ridge always produces baseball talent . You guys have a lot of talent beyond the high school level . What are your expectations going into the season ? Who stands in your way from a state title and what must you do to help your team go as far as possible ? Aside from you , who else do you need a big year from ? My expectations this year are very high . We have an amazing group of guys and our coaching staff and fan base is amazing . The sky ' s the limit for the team this year and our goal is " To win it all no exceptions !” There is no team in particular that stands in our way . Of course , there are some really great teams but the competition is ourselves and that is what we always go by at WRHS . I can help the team go as far as possible by being dominant on the bump and producing at the plate . I am one of the leaders on the team , and if I can keep my leadership high and do my job as a leader the team will follow . As a team we need to have everyone produce . I am not saying any names because all of our guys will and can contribute to the team to let us go as far as possible .
7 . I know you are also a big-time hunter . I think that might be your favorite thing to do . Tell some of your favorite memories of hunts you have been on and some of your biggest trophies you have come away with . Hunting is probably the biggest thing in my life that means the most aside from ball . I am an avid bowhunter . I am ate up with it and always will be . I shoot my bow every day , sometimes pushing it out to 140 yards . Hunting is in my blood and runs in my family . Everyone hunts in my family , and that will live on forever . I have so many great hunting memories it ' s not even funny . My favorite this past year was when I was in South Dakota with my dad and our buddie hunting for mule deer and whitetails . It was the second day of the hunt , and I was hunting a travel corridor that was on the edge of a cut corn field ( to clarify this is all 100 % fair chase ). My guide said if this deer comes out it is going to be a long shot but I have no problem shooting far with my bow if the conditions are right . To make a long story short the buck came out at 76 yards and I put a great shot on him . He ended up scoring 161 . That hunt will have a special place in my heart along with many others . 8 . What has been your favorite sports memory and why ? I have a lot of sports memories and one that stands out to me is actually in basketball when I had 31 points and a dunk against are cross town rivalry the Hoxie Mustangs in the Lawrence County Tournament and everyone in the county was there watching . We also beat them in that game too . Hopefully , this year I can replace that one with the baseball team winning a ring .
