Apple Valley
Splash Valley( formerly the Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center) – open June to August, 14421 Johnny Cake Ridge Road. Daily admissions are available at the gate for $ 14 per person( 2024 prices), children under 12 months are admitted free. Season passes and cards of up to 10 admissions are available online at www. applevalleymn. gov / register. Early bird resident card and non-resident card available. Valleywood Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 71 course can play from 4,960 to 6,407 yards. It is open the public, has leagues and instructional programs, along with serving as a site to host special events. More is at valleywoodgolf. com.
Minnesota Zoo, 13000 Zoo Boulevard, Apple Valley. The 485-acre site cares for about 500 different species of animals. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits that are open all year long. As of September 2025, online tickets are required for all guests, including zoo members( free) and children 2 and under( free). Prices are $ 25.95 for ages 13-64, free for ages 0-2, $ 19.95 for ages 3-12 and $ 23.95 for anyone 65 or older.
Parking costs $ 10 for cars, $ 15 for buses or motor coaches, but free for members. Annual zoo memberships available. Check the website mnzoo. org for hours as they vary by season or call 952-431-9213.

Dakota Woods Dog Park – A 16-acre, fenced, wooded park for dogs to run and exercise off leash. To purchase a required daily or annual pass, go to weblink below, Parks Department at Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley, third floor or by phone 952-891- 7000. Whitetail Woods Regional Park – Dakota County’ s 456-acre park is located in Empire Township in the center of Dakota County, one mile north of the Vermillion River, at 17100 Station Trail. Among its amenities are shelters, camper cabins, Nature Play Area and Sledding Area. It is open daily 8 a. m.-10 p. m.
