The 33rd Annual Dr . Martin Luther King Holiday Breakfast event theme is Keep Moving Forward . Gather to celebrate the life and work of Dr . Martin Luther King , Jr ., a leader in the civil rights movement who used nonviolent civil disobedience to achieve greater equality for all people of color . This day is not only about honoring Dr . King . This day is also a time for people to come together , and to commit to continuing his work toward greater equity for all . The event is hosted by Parkview United Church of Christ in White Bear Lake , and co-sponsored by the White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church in Mahtomedi . Keynote speaker Dr . Hedy Lamar Walls , Executive Vice President , Social Responsibility for YMCA of the North , and the renowned singing group Cantus . Everyone is welcome . Participants will be given tools to engage in uncomfortable conversations , develop their racial literacy , and begin to unpack how race operates in their everyday lives often without consent and / or acknowledgement , all the while building the muscles to move into action !
