Elizabeth investigated if biodegradable packing peanuts can be recycled into a moisturiser . She made a variety of mixtures by combining packing peanuts and water in various concentrations . Elizabeth found that her packing peanut moisturiser was at first sticky but , after 24 hours when it had dried , it made the applied surface smoother .
Penelope Prangell , PLC Sydney , A Berry Clean Experiment
Penelope likes to eat strawberries but finds they tend to go mouldy after washing them . She wanted to find out which liquid was the best to wash her strawberries before storing them . Penelope ’ s results showed that washing strawberries in a vinegar solution delayed the growth of mould .
Elysia Roselle Woo , St Joseph ' s Catholic Primary School , Tooth Fairy : A 4 year old ' s investigation into what drinks are bad for teeth
Elysia enjoys eating sweet treats and wanted to investigate if sugary drinks really are bad for your teeth . She used pig ’ s teeth and the results showed cola and juice make the teeth lose more mass than water and milk . Elysia found brushing teeth with toothpaste can minimise the effects of mass loss and keep teeth healthy looking .
