Keynote Speaker A / Prof . Mary Coupland , UTS
Dr Mary Coupland lectures first year mathematics subjects and enjoys inspiring future scientists and engineers to be successful in using mathematics . She also teaches quantitative literacy in the undergraduate subject " Arguments , Evidence and Intuition ", an elective for all UTS students .
Dr Coupland is passionate about encouraging teachers to contribute to their profession and she is an honorary life member of the Mathematical Association of New South Wales , the state professional association for teachers of mathematics at all levels . She was awarded the Outstanding Professional Service Award by the Professional Teachers Council , NSW , in 2012 and the Exceptional Service Award in 2020 . Dr Coupland is also a member of the professional body for mathematicians , the Australian Mathematical Society .
