HOW YOUR SUPPORT PROTECTED HUNTERS & HUNTING
We support outdoor education for tomorrow ’ s voters with our Conservation Science class that has educated thousands of high school students on the North American model . We also supported legislation in Maine and Kansas requiring aspects of hunter education and firearms training to be incorporated in public schools while fighting against a California bill targeting kids ’ camps .
Last year we fought “ sin ” taxes levied on firearms and ammunition in California , age restrictions proposed in Oregon and Nevada , lead ammunition bans in New York and Minnesota , liability-related bills in Washington , Hawaii , Maine and New Mexico . Even Texas had 18 guncontrol bills introduced !
When the Department of Education strictly interpretated the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act , it removed funding for hunter education , archery courses and shooting teams from public schools . When our outrage went unaddressed by the Biden administration , we filed a lawsuit to right this egregious wrong , which spurred Congressional action restoring funding .
