Two members of each state delegation are required to attend the Spirit and Service Orientation held on Sunday , July 23 . If a delegation only has one member , they are required to attend to participate in Spirit . This is not the same as the DIY Spirit session where states are encouraged , not required , to spend time making props with the materials provided for DIY Spirit .
For Propless Spirit : Spirit leaders may still use papers / posters to lead their states ’ cheers , but they may not be a part of the actual performance . Spirit shirts are permitted , but they will not be factored into the judging of Propless Spirit .
