Post-Assault Recovery and Respite ( PARR ) program
An important part of Children ’ s Hospital Colorado ’ s leadership promise is to maintain a healthy and safe workplace . A national healthcare trend shows incidences of workplace violence on the rise . Proactive policies and programs are in place to prevent these instances , but not all can be avoided . Post-Assault Recovery and Respite ( PARR ) leave was implemented in November 2023 to better support the emotional needs of team members who experience such incidents .
PARR Leave was collaboratively developed by an interdisciplinary group representing human resources , quality and patient safety , occupational health , resilience and well-being , and representatives from various clinical units across Children ’ s Colorado ’ s system of care . PARR Leave offers voluntary , paid leave to a Children ’ s Coloradopaid employee after an interaction such as physical or verbal assault , physical aggression or threats with a patient , caregiver and / or visitor that results in physical and / or emotional harm . All Children ’ s Colorado-paid employees are eligible for PARR Leave .
