The Walnut Ridge Bobcats finished last season 7-3 to earn a berth into the 3A state playoffs , and Coach Jeff Blake will rely on a strong , experienced line up front on both sides of the ball to contend for a conference championship and get back to the playoffs . The strength of the Bobcats will be up front , and while the skill spots may be young , they are definitely talented . The sophomore class went undefeated in junior high , and will bring some speed to high school level . Coach Blake and his staff will once again use the wing T where they rushed for over 4,000 yards as a team last season . Up front , Collin Andrews , Dawson Ward , Sebastian Hoffman , and Wyatt Davis create the holes along with tight end Mark Hatfield . Jayden Saulsbury will be one to benefit from the guys up front , as he returns to lead the rush heavy attack of the Bobcats . Defensively , Walnut Ridge is big up front as well . Along with the strength of the defensive line , the outside linebackers are strong . Coach Blake and his staff will look to bring the inside linebackers and secondary along as the year goes to strengthen the defense in time for the playoffs . On special teams , sophomore Christian Gonzalez will step into the kicking role , where he has been very accurate in junior high and early in his career . Coach Blake , his staff , and his players recognize the community support and tradition and will call upon that along with their experience and talent to make another run at a conference championship . Look for the Bobcats to be in the hunt for the 3A-3 title , and be a tough out in the playoffs .

The West Memphis Blue Devils finished 6-5 last season including a nail biting loss to Russellville in the 6A State Playoffs . With seven returning starters on offense and nine of defense , Coach Robert Hooks has high expectations for this year ’ s squad . Leading the way for the Devils are a trio of All-State returners and a Division 1 commit . All-State quarterback Keland Mills returns to lead the West Memphis offense . The dual threat quarterback was 128-245 for 2,380 yards and 22 touchdowns through the air and had 825 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground . He will have plenty of speed and talent around him including All-State wide receiver Dylan Green . Green caught 41 passed for 894 yards and a touchdown , while also returning two punt returns for touchdowns last season . He also had two interceptions playing defensive back as well for the Blue Devils . All-State defensive lineman Scotty Dobbins will lead the defense up front . Dobbins recorded 82 tackles , including 60 solo , 20 for a loss , and five sacks . He will be joined by Cincinnati commit Marquaze Parker who had 72 tackles with 51 being solo , 14 for a loss , and 4 sacks . Anything can happen in a 10 team 6A East conference , and with so much experience and talent back for West Memphis look for the Blue Devils to be right in the mix for a conference title .
