Built in the late 1950 ’ s , this home has been in the builder ’ s family since the early 1960 ’ s . Once home to his grandmother , and then owned by his father as a rental property , Chris and Chellie purchased the home from their family in 2019 . In the winter of 2021 they designed and planned an extensive remodel and addition with the end goal of moving their growing family into the home . Knowing their children would be raised in a home in which Chris had many memories growing up , felt like a fitting way to honor the legacy of his grandmother and father .
What started as a 1,200 ’ ranch on an unfinished basement , has been transformed into over 3,000 ’ of living space , with every room carefully designed for the needs of their family . The first floor was torn down to the framing . Load bearing walls and a dated fireplace were removed to allow for a more open space . The master suite and a portion of the kitchen were added , giving this home roughly 800 more square feet on the first floor . The original dark , damp basement has been completely finished to include a family room , home office , full bathroom , and laundry room , as well as a play room and classroom .
