HIGHLIGHTS The surveyor was exceedingly complimentary of Children ’ s Hospital Colorado , noting the dedicated and talented team members who provide care through the Pediatric Mental Health Institute . Behavioral Health Accreditation Specialist Travis Wade led the survey , with Jason Williams , BA , and Lyndsay Gaffey , MA , LPC , ATR , providing critical information and essential documentation .
HIGHLIGHTS Children ’ s Hospital Colorado is comprised of two trauma centers : the Anschutz campus , an ACS Level I Pediatric Trauma Center , and the Colorado Springs campus , a state of Colorado Level II Trauma Center . These trauma centers have an expansive reach that extends into a seven-state region .
In February 2022 , Children ’ s Hospital Colorado embarked on the journey of trauma center integration . The institution established a system director of trauma programs , with a goal of aligning trauma program functions between both the established trauma centers and the non-designated state of Colorado facilities . This integrated program approach allows for trauma registry standardization , accuracy and efficiency . Additionally , it allows for the ability to analyze system-wide data — which is useful in identifying trends and enhancing operational decision-making .
Lana Martin , MHL , BSN , RN , CEN , TCRN , CPEN , CPST , was recognized by the survey team for her leadership in preparation for a virtual survey . The Emergency Medical Services Outreach Team , led by Jason Kotas , EMT-B , and Drs . Adelgais and Mandt , was recognized for their exceptional work . The critical care trauma nurse orientation program was identified as a model for preparing nurses to care for trauma victims .
