FORT WORTH SERVICES AND PROGRAMS
This past year , we celebrated our first year as an academic medical program at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital - Fort Worth . Our ability to treat complex cardiovascular patients grew even further by increases in our TAVRs , device usage for transcatheter mitral valve repairs , mitral valve repairs , coronary interventions , electrophysiology procedures , and cardiac surgeries on the Fort Worth campus . Notable among all of these was our multidisciplinary team of clinical experts performing the first left ventricular assist device ( LVAD ) surgery and the first extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation ( ECPR ) procedure in Tarrant County in fiscal year 2022 . We now have a fully staffed LVAD program that is capable of offering this modality for destination therapy or as a bridge-to-transplant in the most advanced cases of heart failure .
We celebrated the first class of residents in the ACGME accredited Baylor Scott & White and Anne Burnett Marion TCU School of Medicine training programs , and recently welcomed the second class of internal medicine residents . The residents enjoy a quality training environment under the supervision and mentorship of physicians on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center who have faculty appointments at the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU . We have welcomed their clinical efforts in our medical center and are particularly proud of their research efforts that have culminated in peer reviewed publications and presentations at multiple research venues .
Our cardiovascular research portfolio has grown year on year with a diverse array of studies spanning all areas in cardiovascular medicine and surgery . As a result of this , we have attracted numerous international trials to our campus and are now participating in these to advantage our patients to access advanced procedures and therapeutics in the clinical trial space . As the COVID-19 pandemic continued , we maintained our unrelenting efforts to care for patients on the Fort Worth campus .
In short , we are proud to share our progress in fiscal year 2022 resulting from a deeply collaborative , patient-focused environment driven by commitment to clinical excellence which we all share as a core value .

In fiscal year 2022 , many patients were in the care of the clinical teams at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Fort Worth for cardiovascular disease through a broad array of treatment options . Collaborating with Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth , all areas expanded capabilities to treat complex cardiovascular conditions . Patients came from not only the immediate Fort Worth and Tarrant County area , but also from West Texas and beyond .
At the height of the number of COVID-19 patients , Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital - Fort Worth worked closely with Baylor Scott & White - Fort Worth to provide additional and muchneeded space to non-COVID-19 patients on the 5th floor of the hospital . Collaboration was key to making certain the cardiovascular services were continually available on the Fort Worth campus .

At the foundation of providing quality care and excellent patient experience are the people who care for patients every day — at the bedside — as well as all those in vital supportive roles . The Fort Worth team include skilled acute care nurse practitioners who work closely with the cardiologists on the medical staff to provide individualized cardiovascular care . In addition , more than 90 % of the registered nurses have advanced degrees and / or national certifications . Professional development is always supported and encouraged . The nursing team also provided education to new nurses on the Fort Worth campus related to the care of heart patients often in a peer-topeer setting .
